Right now, I am laying next to you in your 'big girl' bed. You are close to being asleep but can't seem to give in. Your sweet little smart brain just doesn't want to turn off.
I am remembering some of your recent 'geniusness' as you just rolled over and put your warm, soft palm on my cheek. And melted my heart.
As usual, you and I were heading to get a snow cone one afternoon this week. We were taking about Aunt Erin and Aunt Courtney being pregnant. I won't bore you with my end of the convo but your side always goes a little something like this....
"And she has a baby in her belly. And her belly is going to get real big because the baby is growing. And I was in your belly and your belly got reeeeeal biiiig. And soon the baby will be here but not yet. Her belly has to get bigger. Then the doctor will take it out and it'll be all yucky, huh? Blood and stuff. Then they will clean it up and give her the baby and say now you can go home."
I know we have talked about big bellies and babies but I honestly don't remember telling you about the "blood and stuff"... I cried laughing! Genius, I tell you. You love babies and are sweet to pile the toys on/near/around them when one visits us. I'm working on getting you to part with some of your old toys, for baby Lexi and Aunt Courtney's baby... We will see how that goes. When we hear a baby cry out in a store, you are quick to say "Oh he needs his momma/bop/bottle." Or "He's hungry". You do love being around babies and have always been gentle and attentive to them, never getting bored with one after a few hours. And will ask for days after we visit with one, "When's baby so and so coming back?". Not sure if you would react the same to having a new baby in our house permanently and I'm not sure I want to find out. I've got you, my Anna, and I just can't top that. Nothing will ever be better for me than you. My sweet, wise, precious mini me... Now one day closer to three years old.
(And amazing me with your coloring skills the past few days!)
Love,
Momma
